Gurjar Pratihara

 

Historians believe that after the Gupta period, Gurjara Pratiharas came to India from the central Asian region and settled in Rajasthan. Gradually, they gained political importance. The bardic tradition of Rajasthan claims that the Gurjara Pratiharas, Chalukyas, Parmaras, and Chahmanas were born out of a yajna done at Mount Abu. 

  • Founder of Gurjar Prathara was Harishchandra, 1st Ruler of Nagbhatta I
  • The Gurjara-Pratihara dynasty was an imperial power during the Late Classical period on the Indian subcontinent that ruled much of Northern India from the mid-8th to the 11th century.
  • He Ujjain and as his capital and with this he started with development of Pratihara community.
  • He defeated the Arab commander Junaid, who had attacked him.

Nagbhatta II

  • He is referred to as the real founder of Kingdom. He made Cannauj as his capital.

Mihirbhoj 

  • Title to his given as Prabhas  means Lustrous person. 
  • He was a follower of Lord Vishnu. 
  • He used to issue coins with title Adi Varha

Pala Dynasty 

 

Pala dynasty, ruling dynasty in Bihar and Bengal, India, from the 8th to the 12th century. Its founder, Gopala, was a local chieftain who rose to power in the mid-8th century during a period of anarchy. His successor, Dharmapala (reigned c. 770–810), greatly expanded the kingdom and for a while was in control of Kannauj.
  • He established Nolanda Vihar. 

Dharampal

  •  He was a part of Tripartite struggle, fought between three parties, Gurjar Pratihara, Rashtrakutas and Paula. It was a fight to capture Kannauj. 
  • He established Vikramshila Vihar, which was later turned into university. 
  • He built somapur Vihar in Bihar, which today stand for UNESCO heritage site. 
  • He said to have donated 200 villages to develop Nalanda University.

Sen Dynasty

 
 
 

The Sen dynasty was a Hindu dynasty during the early medieval period on the Indian subcontinent, that ruled from Bengal through the 11th and 12th centuries. The empire at its peak covered much of the north-eastern region of the Indian subcontinent. The rulers of the Sen Dynasty traced their origin to the south Indian region of Karnataka.

Religion: Hinduism (Vedic Hinduism, Shaivism, Tantra, and Vaishnavism)

Hemant Sen

  • He is regarded as the real founder of Sen Dynasty.

Vijaya Sen

  • Title: Ariraj Vrishabh Shankr

Ballal Sen

  •  Title: Ariraj Ni Sen Shankar. 
  • He wrote den Sager. 
  • He started working on a book called Adhbudh Sastra, but could not complete it. It was later completed by his son Lakshmana Sen.

Lakshmana Sen

  • Title AreIraj Madan Shankar. 
  • He had a famous poet in his court, Named Jaydev who wrote the book Geet Govind.

 Chandel Dynasty 

 

 

Chandella Dynasty is a part of Rajput clan who ruled the Bundelkhand region of central India between tenth and thirteenth centuries. History supports the fact that the Rajput’s of Chandella dynasty are the descendants of the sage Chandratreya who was born of the moon. Their capital city was Khajuraho which was later changed to Mahoba.

 Yashovarma

  • He established a visual Temple name Chaturbhuj, Khajuraho.

Dhang

  •  He is regarded as the real founder of the Chandel Kingdom.
  • He established certain temples there like Viswanath temple, Baikunth Nag Temple and Vaidnath Temple.

Chauhan Dynasty

               

 

The Chauhan dynasty dominated Delhi, Ajmer and Ranthambhore. They were also prominent at Godwar in the southwest of Rajputana, and at Hadoti in the east. This clan originated near Amber, which is now Jaipur in Rajasthan. The Chauhan’s of Gurjar clans are the Manipuri in Uttar Pradesh and the Neemrana in Alwar district of Rajasthan.

It is a legend mentioned in the Book Prithviraj Raso, that the dynasties of Chalukya, Parmar, Pratihar and Chauhan emerged from the fire pit of the young performed at Mt. Abu.

Prithvi Raj III

  • In 1191 first Battle of Tarain defeated Muhammad Gauri.
  • In the Second Battle of Tarain: He was defeated by Mohammad Gauri.

Hariraj 

The Turks took over Ajmer during his region.
